MOUNT OLIVER — According to the Associated Press, a man was arrested at a Pittsburgh-area of a Potter’s House Ministries church. Police did not identify the suspect, who is facing assault charges but says he entered into the sanctuary brandished a weapon.
Carswell says the suspect struck his stepfather, a deacon at the church, in the ear with the weapon before entering the church. No shots were fired. He believes the young man has been dealing with family issues.
It is a sad situation to need security guards in church! Christian ethics does not teach solving problem with violence. Very curious thing, obviously, the man was able to enter into the temple with a weapon.
This launches the debate on the presence of safety barriers in the churches.
