Three decades ago, China’s Cultural Revolution saw some of the most dramatic restrictions on the practice of religion ever seen in the modern world.

But today’s communist rulers have radically altered their views about religion and have granted substantial freedom to Christians prepared to worship within state-sanctioned churches.

Zimbabwe Releases Jailed U.S. Church Aid Workers on Bail

Four American health volunteers from a California church were released on bail Monday after being arrested and jailed for treating AIDS patients without proper medical paperwork.

The aid workers paid the $200 bail and were ordered to stay at their Mother of Peace Orphanage in the town of Mutoko, outside the capital Harare, until their next court appearance on Sept. 27. Read more

Drilling could resume in Plan B to rescue miners, government says

Conflicting reports emerged Tuesday about the status of one of the operations to rescue 33 workers trapped in a collapsed mine in Chile.

Renata Robbio, a spokeswoman for the government’s mining ministry, told CNN that all the pieces of a drill bit destroyed last week have been removed from the hole. Read more of this post

105-year-old leads hospitality ministry

Bedridden Man Now Walks

Kirit Gavde was miserable. For six years, he had been suffering from the debilitating effects of tuberculosis. His anguish was compounded by asthma, and he was barely able to breathe. Kirit spent most of his time confined to bed, being cared for by his faithful wife.

He went to a lot of doctors, but all their treatments failed to help him. Kirit’s family was deeply devoted to their traditional gods. They fervently worshiped them and continued to plead for Kirit’s healing, but to no avail. Read more of this post
